From our President...
Welcome to the Delta Zeta chapter of Alpha Phi at the University of Maryland!
My name is Abby Fisher and I am honored to be representing my sisters as Chapter President this year. In this chapter of 128 members, we are all dedicated to living out our four high ideals: generosity, innovation, character, and sisterhood. Here at Alpha Phi, we pride ourselves on being the best versions of ourselves and holding each other to the highest standards.
Over the past year, our chapter has had numerous successes. We were recently recognized by the University of Maryland as a distinguished chapter, having exceeded the university’s expectations of member development and service initiatives. We also welcomed a fantastic new member class into our sisterhood, raised our chapter GPA well above the university’s all-women’s average, were honored by Alpha Phi International as one of the top fundraisers’s in our quadrant, and best of all, got to experience it all with our sisters by our sides.
As we begin another semester, we look forward to hosting our annual Red Dress Gala, along with our three other philanthropy events, King of Hearts, Casino Night, and Mac ’n Phis. This year we hope to raise over $40,000 for the Alpha Phi Foundation, which benefits women’s heart health.
Alpha Phi gives our members the opportunity to meet forever friends, gain experiences and skills that will benefit us for years to come, and be a part of something much bigger than just ourselves.
Above all else, my sisters have made UMD into my home. Alpha Phi takes a campus with over 40,000 students and makes it a personal place for each member. Alpha Phi is more than just an organization for four years, it is a home, family, and sisterhood for life.
